Session #94 · 1975–77

Speech #940045441

I move to strike the last word. Mr. Chairman. we have been beating around the bush here. and all we are talking about is the fear that our constituents have about the great influx of Vietnamese refugees. I have an amendment pending at the desk that we will have a chance to vote on. I trust. before the night is over. which will prohibit the evacuation of any of these under paragraph (d) of section 3. or anyone qualified under that paragraph. to any State in the United States without the express consent of Congress. I think we are moving too fast. We have a purpose. but I do not know and no one knows how many refugees they are going to pull out of there under this socalled classification of paragraph (d) of section 4.
