Mr. Speaker. this is to announce that my Subcommittee on Immigration. Citizenship. and International Law will hold 1 day of public hearings next Wednesday to consider my bill H.R. 1276. a bill which would require specific authorizations of appropriations for the Immigration and Naturalization Service in administering the Immigration and Nationality Act. This hearing will be held in room 2226 at 10 a.m. This legislation is directly related to the illegal alien problem in this country and this authorization legislation would enable the Judiciary Committee to consider in great detail the manpower requirements of the Immigration Service to combat this serious problem. Many of the witnesses who have appeared during our hearings on the illegal alien legislationH.R. 982in the last few weeks have stressed the need for the consideration of authorization legislation by the Judiciary Committee with respect to the Immigration and Naturalization Service. The Department of Justice and pub-. lic witnesses have been invited to testify on this legislation.
