I for one feel that how a nation treats its previously persecuted minorities and dissidents is a measure of that countrys maturity as a society. If it cannot mature internally. then it is largely incapable of dealing effectively or honestly with foreign neighbors. Until the Soviet regime shows. by ending its overbearing and hateful policies toward such totally innocent people. and allows them to emigrate freely. I do not feel mostfavorednation status should be granted by this country to Russia. Nor do I feel we should allow ourselves to be led. as a Congress. by the nose by Secretary of State Kissinger. into approving any relaxation of our guard toward Russia in a military sense.
