President. the news over this past weekend of an outbreak of fighting on Cyprus. and of the continuing deadlock in negotiations. serves as a reminder that the crisis on Cyprus deepens each day. This last Friday. I issued a statement calling for additional assistance to the refugees of Cyprus. and discussed a letter I received. as chairman of the Subcommittee on Refugees. from Secretary of State Henry Kissinger on the progress in negotiations over Cyprus. Given the approaching Febuary 5th deadline on continuing military aid to Turkey. I would like to share with my colleagues the text of the Secretarys letter to the subcommittee.
