The conference agreed to a compromise on the Cyprus issue. This has been agreed to by those in the House who were deeply concerned about this: Suspending aid to Turkey but permitting the President to waive the provision until February 1975. It includes $25 million for aid to the refugees in Cyprus. It includes in the conference report a firm statement about no transshipment of military supplies from Turkey to Cyprus. It says there shall be no increase in the provisions that are going to Turkey from the United States above what is the established normal pattern. It cuts military aid to South Korea to $145 million.
