Session #93 · 1973–75

Speech #930285070

During World War I and II. many citizens of allied countries Joined with our Armed Forces in defending and preserving the world from tyranny and oppression. But the peoples of Poland and Czechoslovakia were denied the freedom for which they fought so bravely. Accordingly. many of these men and their families emigrated to the United States where they have made significant contributions to the development of our great Nation. However. since these men were not technically members of our Armed Forces. they were not eligible for any veterans benefits. Moreover. because their former fatherlands are under Communist control. many of them have nowhere to turn for medical attention they need and deserve.
