While in the past it was felt only married individuals had the time and opportunity to give love and warmth to unwanted children. we now have provided adoption laws which allow unmarried individuals equal opportunity. I believe those States that have changed their laws are socially conscious of the love unmarried mature adults can give to a child. Yet. our immigration laws in the Federal Government have not progressed as far as many of the adoption laws of the various States. The case of Dr. Messick is one that requires expediency on the part of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the full Senate.
