Finally in 1951 the socalled bracero law was approved by this Congress. It was the first time that contract labor was recognized since it had been abolished in the 1870s when the contract laborers were Europeans. Unfortunately. the same thing happened with this group as happened in the 1870s which led to its prohibition by the U.S. Congress.
