Charley Ponzis scheme was simple. With the stock market operating as it did in New York the idea of investing was attractive even to those who had not the money to invest. So Charley gave the poor immigrants who were his neighbors the chance at investment at any amount they might have. They could invest in Charleys barber shop. At first. the investments came in slow.
