Mr. President. I am certain that the distinguished Senator from South Dakota is far more familiar with the situation in the Middle East than I am. but I would just like to say that it does occur to the Senator from Wyoming that. despite our protested evenhandedness. America has not been as fair as I think our country should be. I think we have ignored the Palestinian refugee problem for all too long. These people have lived in camps over there for more than a generation. My heart goes out to them. Mr. President. I think that for reasons that are not clear to me. all too little is said about the more than 1 million persons who were uprooted and who have never been permanently settled anyplace but just kept hostage at camps where they have had no chance to aspire to the traditional role of family life. which ought to be afforded every human being.
