But I am finally confident that my efforts. and those of all my colleagues who have continued their support of Syrian Jewry. will not have been for nothing. The situation in the Mideast :is changing. Peace is a likely prospect. We must be ready for that eventuality. and for the eventuality that Syria will let those Jews whom it now holds captive emigrate. My bill would open the doors of the United States for them. allowing them to taste the delicious fruits of freedom and to become contributing members of a society in which they will prosper and which will benefit greatly from their presence.
