Marks transferred to the Central Office. at that time located In Philadelphia. to serve in an administrative position in the Hearing Review Unit of the Exclusion and Expulsion Section. Shortly thereafter. with the outbreak of World War II. he went on military furlough to serve his country as an agent in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps. After being honorably discharged from the military in 1948. Mr. Marks returned to the Immigration Service and quickly advanced to increasingly responsible administrative positions at both the Central Office and Regional Office levels. While working at the Central Office. now located in Washington. D.C.. he continued his education at George Washington University School of Law until 1950. when he was awarded a :Bachelor of Laws degree.
