Anyone who denigrates their situation or the state of mind prevailing in Russia today lives in a world of selfdelusion. One has only to look into the face of a Russian Jew who has managed to leave. or to hear of their experiences. to understand the reality of the equation governing the lives of their coreligionists. Yet there are those who would play down their experiences and seek to defuse the efforts we are making on behalf of the right to emigrate. On all sides. within and without the Jewish community. there are heard voices saying that we are making too much of the thingthat things are changing. that too great a fuss has been made. that we should ease off. Fortunately. their views have not prevailed.
