Session #93 · 1973–75

Speech #930188958

A significant manifestation of the undying aspiration of the Estonian people for freedom and independence is the effort of the Estonian World Council to learn of the fate of the Republic of Estonias last President. Konstantin Pats. Shortly after the Soviet invasion and occupation of Estonia in 1940. President Pats and his family were taken by the Soviet authorities and reportedly deported to the Soviet Union. Since that time there have been only rumors of the fate of this national hero. and his burial site is unknown. It is cruel and insensitive of the authorities in the Soviet Union to withhold any longer what happened to President Pats after his arrest in 1940.
