In the year 1973. more than 50.000 Vietnamese soldiers were killedmore than the total of American war deaths in 8 years. 43.166 civilians were hospitalized. and 818.700 people became refugees. These figures. compiled by the Senate Subcommittee on Refugees and by the Agency for International Development. seem remote to us because Americans are not on the firing line any more.
