reports that the current estimates of deaths number in "the tens of thousands" and concludes: Over 100.000 people are living in conditions inimical to the preservation of a reasonable standard of health. Over 6 million people have been directly affected by the drought and 1.2 million are now in need of food aid. Some 63.000 famine refugees are already located in camps in one province alone. Mr. President. this critical UNDP report raises serious questions as to the adequacy of our Governments response to the humanitarian needs created by the longignored drought in Ethiopia.
