Here is another example: The ordeal of Aleksander Polotzk. a secondary school student from Moscow. began on February 23. 1973. when his school director. N. A. Panteleeva. learned that the Polotzk family were planning to emigrate to Israel. In the Soviet Union there is a close organizational tie between the secondary school and the KomsomalYoung Communist League. Therefore. prior to a meeting of the Komsomal. Panteleeva informed Aleksanders classmates and their parents of the decision of the Polotzk family to emigrate. Ten days later Aleksander was expelled from the Komsomal. During the entire month of March.
