Chairman. the gentleman is correct that all of these safeguards that he has outlined are provided not only in the legislation before us at the moment. but most of them are provided in existing law. The only thing that my amendment does. or the only objection I have to the proposal of the committee is that it permits an alien to come in to take a permanent job. in other words. it erases "temporary." and now it says he can come in and take a permanent job. We have absolutely no objection to the law as it now exists. The only provision. again repeating. is the matter of the permanent job that is to be occupied by actually an illegal alien
