The administration has stated its intent to continue to give all the economic military. and diplomatic assistance it can under the law once the August 15 deadline is reached. I have yet to receive clarification on exactly what is meant by this stated intent. Congress must make sure that any further aid to Cambodia is strictly in compliance with the law. My hope is that the major portion of any such aid will be directly allocated for relief purposes. Immediate efforts to allocate justified amounts for relief of the suffering refugees will receive my support. In all good conscience we cannot. we must not fail to exhibit our concern and commitment to helping the victims of this war.
