I had the pleasure of addressing the 59th Ohio State Convention of the Ancient Order of Hibernians which was held in North Jackson. Ohio. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mary E. Murphy. who was chosen Irish Woman of Mahoning County 1973. and Judge Joseph E. ONeill. who was chosen Mahoning Countys Irishman of the Year In my remarks. I related the story about nine Irishmen who were sentenced to hang for treason by Queen Victoria. Instead. they were banished from their homeland. only to become outstanding leaders in their adopted countries. So. too. have countless Irish immigrants in America and throughout the world become leaders in the perpetual struggle for liberty. equality. and justice. Mr. Speaker.
