Following his ordination on June 7. Father John Pitass was appointed pastor over the 82 families that had recently migrated from Poland to Buffalo. New York. It wasnt long befor a church was built. Joseph Berk donated several lots on Peckham and Wilson Streets. and it was here. on January 25. 1874. that the first church was dedicated. As more and more immigrants flocked to the area. a much larger church was needed. and so in 1886. the present church was dedicated.
