The Israeli have made our aid an investment and now this desert outpost has become a valuable part of the world economy. Israel has met and conquered numerous seemingly insurmountable challenges over the past quarter century. She has channeled her human talent and technical expertise toward solving the problems of absorbing 1/2 million immigrants. establishing a modern army increasingly supplied by locally produced defense equipment. transforming an agrarian to an industrial economy. preserving and strengthening its democratic institutions. cultivating arts and sciences. and achieving many other worthy goals. Israel today represents more than a place for homeless Jews to liveit stands for a real contribution to the quality of life. not only for Jews. but for all mankind. Last week marked the 75th birthday of one of the most inspirational leaders in the history of the state of Israel.
