Speech #930041690

Mr. Chairman and my colleagues. it is aimed right down the throat of every American of Mexican descent in the United States. When we think in terms of illegal aliens. we think only of one ethnic groupthose of Mexican originand I would have the temerity to state at this point that many of these people were citizens before our parents and grandparents arrived on these shores. Do you really believe that under the terms of this bill employers will willingly hire Mexican Americans when by so doing they may open themselves to harassment not only by Immigration and Naturalization people but also troublemakerseven when he has demanded proof of citizenship? Why should hethere are lots of other people to hire with no problems. We have the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to be suremore harassment.
