Mr. Speaker. I am proud to be a sponsor of the Freedom of Emigration Act. which would restrain trading privileges with. or mostfavorednation treatment for any nation that practices discriminatory emigration policies. and I commend Representatives VAxNI and MILLs and Senator JACKSON on their work in this critical area. We are at the beginning of a cautious detente with the other great powers. trade and travel restrictions are gradually being relaxed. American cultural and professional groups are journeying to and from the Soviet Union and China. This is tremendously encouraging. It leads us to hope that one day the entire world will be free of artificial barriers. since all human beings share the same little planet.
