Session #93 · 1973–75

Speech #930008406

Mr. Speaker. I am proud to be numbered today among the cosponsors of the Freedom of Emigration Act of 1973. I have long been concerned with the problems of being a Jew in Russia. As you know. I went to Russia nearly 2 years ago. The things I experienced there strengthened my conviction that we must do all we humanly can to help those Jews who want to leave. for it is impossible today to live as a Jew in the Soviet Union. and things will very likely get worse in the future. I view this act as the last great hope for Russian Jewry.
