After the war. there was a change of government in each of those countries. a change which deprived the Eastern European people of the free-. CXIX- 172Part 3 dom for which they had fought. Consequently Eastern Europeans. by the hundreds of thousands. emigrated to the. United States in search of the kind of life they could no longer lead in their own countries. A great many of them are now American citizens who have enriched our Nation through hard work.
