Liubarsky was subject to much harassment even before his anest. He was interrogated by the KGB. His daughter was sent threatening letters at her school. She was asked to denounce her father. because he wanted to emigrate to Israel. When he was arrested on July 18. 1972. an extensive search was made of his home and notes he had made during the 197071 interrogations were confiscated. Even when his wife went to Moscow to engage a lawyer for his defense. her request was refused by the chairman of the presidium of the Moscow Association of Lawyers. as in the Markman case.
