Speech #920320911

Mr. President. I have known of many stories similar to that of Frank Hecht. the man whose story I shall ask shortly to be printed in the RECORD. I have known them because. as a boy and a young man. I lived in an area of many immigrants. In fact. my father was an immigrant who came to this country when he was 4 months old In 1876. These are days of cynicism and far too great a flagrant and abrasive ridicule of many aspects of our past and the values attaching to it. Hence. Frank Hechts way of saying thank you is heartening and refreshing.
