That impediment to emigration would be removed if the United States demonstrated its compassion as it has on other occasions by allowing these tormented people to enter the United States under the parole authority of the Attorney General without regard to immigration quota restrictions. I can assure the Members of this House that the Jewish community in the United States will provide for all of the Syrian Jews permitted to so enter the United States and that they will not be a burden of any kind on the American economy.
