Session #92 · 1971–73

Speech #920295995

One million. And the majority. by far. have been soldiers of North Vietnam. The counters at the Defense Department do not keep as careful a tabulation of civilian deaths. The best estimates indicate that 400.000 have died in South Vietnam alone. which is where the majority of our bombs have fallen during this war. No one can say for sure how many tens of thousands have died in North Vietnam. Cambodia. and Laos. And then there are the hundreds of thousands who are wounded. and the millions who have been made refugees. American casualties have dramatically decreased. But Asian casualties continue.
