Session #92 · 1971–73

Speech #920286852

Speaker. the repression of Jews within the Soviet Union appears to be growing still. Repeatedly. we in the United States have expressed our great concern over the actions by the Soviet Government against its Jewish citizens. Recently. we were deeply shocked by an even greater harassment in the form of higher fees for those seeking to emigrate. Shortly after these new fees were initiated. my colleague from New York (Mr. Dow) and I met with an official of the Soviet Embassy here in Washington to express our concern and that of many other Members of the Congress over the treatment of Soviet Jews.
