Conn.. has shown exactly what kind of dedication and help can be given along those lines. and the cause of helping such children and young adultsas with so many other causes during the past 50 yearshas been enthusiastically picked up by many chapters of the Order of Ahepa. Mr. Speaker. it used to be true in this country that immigrants from all lands were not treated fairly or well by the existing powers in society and government. and that they had to band together to pull each other up by the bootstraps. It is now becoming clear. however. that those who bring a cultural diversity to this Nation. and their children and their childrens children. have so very much to contribute to both our own society and to the land from which they or their ancestors came. A prime cause for this emerging realization has been precisely the work of organizations like the AHEPAin this case. promoting understanding of the attributes and ideals of Hellenism and Hellenic culture at the same time that worthy causes are addressed and fine work done selflessly.
