The Senate Appropriations Committee has. very much to Its credit. increased that figure of $2.5 million for section 516 farm labor housing grant program to $5 million. I do want to commend the committee. and in particular the very distinguished Senator from Wyoming . for helping to get that appropriation increased to $5 million. I intended to introduce an amendment increasing the $5 million figure to at least $10 million. even though at $10 million we could not begin to meet the needs of the most poorly housed people in America. the migrant and seasonal farmworker. I understand that a $10 million or higher figure would .be unacceptable to the Appropriations Committee and. consequently. have introduced an amendment which increases the appropriation of $5 million to $7 million for fiscal 1973. I hope very much that the distinguished Senator from Wyoming will see fit to accept the amendment at that reduced figure.
