Session #92 · 1971–73

Speech #920258822

Madam Chairman. I yield myself such time as I may consume. Madam Chairman and members of the committee. the bill before us now is the bill that would extend early retirement benefits to firefighters. I make that distinction because the next bill is the one that deals with the customs and immigration inspectors. This bill deals with the firefighters. and I make that distinction further because this bill was before this House on a prior time. We passed it 2 years ago and the Senate passed it. and the President vetoed it. This bill has been passed now by the Senate in this Congress without opposition. and it is before the House again.
