From 1920 to 1931. he leased 4.200 acres from a former Governor of Wisconsin near Model. Iowa. and grew potatoes and corn as well as wheat. At the same time. he grew 200 to 300 acres of onion at Hollandale. Minn.. and vegetables in South Bend. Ind. In 1931. he moved to Brunswick.
