Delano led the first congregation of 28 souls in prayerful dedicaton for the precursor of the present North Syracuse Baptist Church. Truly a mission amid the fields. the Plank Road Baptist Conference of 1844 grew as the area grew. Second generation colonial homesteaders were joined by newly arrived immigrant populations and the congregation reflected the dynamics of a burgeoning community. From its first wood stoveheated and oil lamplighted structure the church grew with America as it rounded the mark into the 20th century.
