According to this rationale. peace will be brought to Indochina only through more escalation of the violence. If there is any lesson to be learned from our tragic. misguided participation in that war it is this: The only peace which the United States can bring to Vietnam is the peace of the grave. Only after every last village has been bombed into rubble. after every last civilian is killed. and after every last refugee drops in his tracks. will the Presidents plan for "peace with honor" be a reality. The Vietnamese people. I think. care little for that kind of peace and even less for the honor that comes with it.
