A child of the depression. Swede developed a lasting love affair that has endured throughout his life--the object of this affection being machines that fly. Young Nils Ohman entered West Point and proved to the world that a young Swedish immigrant could match any and outstrip most of his contemporaries. Not only did he excel in scholastic achievement by ranking 18th in his class of 300 but he was an outstanding athlete. having been named to the alltime "All Army" team. Young Lieutenant Ohman was at Hickam Field.
