Session #92 · 1971–73

Speech #920206684

Despite these restrictions. tens of thousands of young Jews gather to sign up with and engage in the activities of Jewish synagogues across their nation. We must demonstrate our concern for those Jews who would remain in the Soviet Union as well as for those who wish to leave. and I am pleased to note that this resolution does that. It is gratifying to see the Congress of the United States join with the millions of people dedicated to human rights in urging that Soviet Jews be granted all of the rights of other Soviet citizens. be permitted to live as Jews and to practice the Jewish religion. and be permitted to emigrate if they so desire. I urge the adoption of this resolution.
