Session #92 · 1971–73

Speech #920110334

Recent newspaper articles dealing with announcements of major policy changes at two of our "leading liberal universities on opposite ends of the country. confirm that the proper definition of the phrase "equal employment opportunity" is preferential treatment of blacks and other minority groups in job hiring practices and in admissions. It is an "educated" world indeed when the English language has deteriorated to the point where equal and preferential mean one and the same thing. Other aspects of life in America today also tend to create confusion over the meaning of "equal employment opportunity." While many nativeborn Americans are unemployed. certain foreignborn immigrants enjoy guaranteed success. A classic example of this is Stalins daughter. Svetlana Alliluyeva. and her brotherinlaw.
