I should like to call to the attention of my colleagues a truly historymaking event which occurred yesterday in the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. It was a unique concert that pointed up and underscored one of this Nations greatest musical heritages. I refer to the contribution to our cultural life of the Unitas Fratrum. the United Brethren. or as the denomination is more commonly referred to. the Moravians. These sturdy people emigrated in the 18th century from that area of Europe which is modernday Czechoslovakia. to Pennsylvania and North Carolina. In the North Carolina wilderness they established three tiny communities called Bethabara. Bethania. and Salem.
