I would like at this time to engage in a colloquy with the chairman in regard to the language on page 12 of the bill regarding Pakistan and our military and economic assistance to that country. First let me commend again the distinguished chairman and his committee on the language which is contained in the bill at the bottom of page 12 and at the top of page 13. where. as I would interpret it. all military and economic assistance to Pakistan will cease upon enactment of this legislation and continue to be held in abeyance until such time as the President has certified that the situation has corrected itself in connection with the refugee problem in East Pakistan.
