Session #92 · 1971–73

Speech #920067191

Mr. President. I wish to indicate my support for continuing the airlift of refugees from Cuba. To do otherwise would be unconscionable. unless viable alternative arrangements are immediately available to permit the exit of Cubans wishing to leave their homeland to join their family members in this country. The able Senators from Florida have fully outlined the situation. so I will not burden the record with lengthy comment at this time. Let me just say that I feel very strongly that our country has a very heavy moral obligation to welcome those Cubans. whose names remain on the active waiting lists for airlift to Miami.
