Cuban freedom flight. We are not talking about a vacation or business flight from one small nation to the United States. we are talking about the freedom of people. freedom we have promised them. When President Johnson offered his asylum for Cuban refugees. he also said while standing at the foot of the Statue of Liberty: Now. under the monument which has welcomed so many to our shores. the American Nation returns to the finest of its traditions today. I intend to vote today to uphold this tradition. I urgeeach Member of this distinguished body to oppose the committee amendment calling for an end to the Cuban freedom flights.
