Session #92 · 1971–73

Speech #920054939

We have a very basic and fundamental responsibility in seeing that the violence ends and that it ends on the ground and from the air. and that we do not leave a situation where Asians are killing Asians. and that the United States is part of that operation. I would certainly hope that this dialog would help remind us all of the impact this war is having on the people of Indochina. We have a very serious responsibility to them that can only be achieved through a political settlement of the conflict. But the level of fighting continues. The flow of refugees continues. The civilian war casualties mount each day. More people are made homeless.
