Session #92 · 1971–73

Speech #920030243

Mr. Speaker. recently I made a trip to the U.S.S.R. which was for the purpose ofvisiting with the families of Soviet Jews held in Leningrad jails and to speak with Soviet officials on their policy of refusing rights to Jews accorded other nationalities in the Soviet Union and refusing to permit Jews to emigrate from the Soviet Union. The details of my trip were reported to the House in a statement which I made on the floor on April 7. I would like now to provide this House with some further observations that I have had as a result of my trip to the Soviet Union.
