Mr. Speaker. I would urge the Ways and Means Committee to reconsider the administrations proposal to extend unemployment compensation coverage to migrant workers. By our action we can prevent the recurrence of such disaster situations in which large segments of our social are left without any means to purchase food. pay rent. gas and electricity bills. and provide medical attention for their children. While I can appreciate that committees unusually heavy workload. the fact that we are faced with a disaster in this area and may be confronted with more. clearly points to the priority attention which this legislation deserves.
