Mr. Speaker. on February 25 a 3day conference of national and international Jewish organizations on the plight of Soviet Jewry was concluded. This conference was convened at Brussels to consider the religious and cultural oppression being visited upon the Jews of the Soviet Union. and the restriction of their right to emigrate. The World Conference of Jewish Communities on Soviet Jewry Issued a declaration which I particularly commend to my colleagues. I urgently hope that its import will bring home to the government of the Soviet Union the disapproval of the world community for its actions regarding its Jewish citizens.
