Session #91 · 1969–71

Speech #910337590

Korey described this trial and four other trials which are scheduled to be held as a manifestation of Soviet efforts to stop the bourgeoning growth of Jewish pride. He described this most significant movement as one that is. interestingly. dominated by 20- and 30yearold peopleindividuals who have had relatively little Jewish heritage in the traditional sense. This movement has resulted in tens of thousands of visa applications being sent to Soviet emigration officials as well as more than 200 petitionsall signed by Jews who gave their name and addess. Most of the petition signers have lost their jobs and suffered other persecution. but they seem willing now to take these risks. Several years ago. they would have remained silent.
