Walter Dam in the Pocono Mountains to memorialize the accomplishments of a great man. a man devoted to the preservation of our environment and the conservation of our natural resources. I am privileged to share with you and with my colleagues a moment of tribute to my dedicated predecessor. the late CongressmanFrancis "Tad" Walter. Although his chief responsibilities in the Congress lay in the House Judiciary Committee and its Immigration and Naturalization Subcommittee which he chaired. as well as the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities which he directed -for 8 years. Tad Walter was also known as a prominent figure in conservation efforts. The Delaware River Basin was a focal point for his concern.
